Season 3 – Episode 10: Frances Widdowson

Frances Widdowson is a Canadian political scientist. She was an associate professor in the department of economics, justice and policy studies at Mount Royal University from 2008 to 2021.

Widdowson received an Honours BA and MA in political science from the University of Victoria and a PhD in political science from York University. She has focused much of her career on the “aboriginal industry”, taking money, resources, and much more from the natives of Canada, and the enablement of “applied postmodernism” (identity politics) in academic programs.

Widdowson’s book Disrobing the Aboriginal Industry was short-listed for the 2008 Donner Prize. Currently, she is working a manuscript entitled The Woke Academy: How Advocacy Studies Murder Academic Disciplines and Effective Policy Development.
